Unplanned trip to Kedah

I just arrived from Kedah... the unplanned trip. I had applied for leave on 7 January 2011 3 weeks ago, the leave was for a family holiday. Somehow, 1 week before, everyone had plans so the family trip was cancelled. I wasn't sure whether I should cancel or not, but I didn't say anything to my boss. So on Thursday night, I went to Gombak, my inlaw's place and stayed the night there... and I thought, ok, I'll just take the day off as planned. As holidays don't come easily for housemans, my husband and I booked a room in Royale Chulan, it's a good break for us since it's been quite long since we went on a holiday.

Went for breakfast at our usual nasi lemak spot... excited to check-in and shop... until my husband got a call from a professor in Kedah. He had asked my husband to go for a job interview held in Alor Setar the next morning at 8.30 am! Being spontaneous and flexible, I agreed and cancelled our Royale Chulan reservation and instead, we booked a flight ticket to Alor Setar. It's very unusual of me to agree to such things, but opportunities don't come easily.

Our flight back to Alor Setar was at 8 pm, checked-into Holiday Villa at 10 pm. Usually we stay at my brother-in-law's place but because of the holiday mood, we stayed at Holiday Villa. It's quite a nice hotel actually. I go to rest and went for a spa trip. Although the price was good, but nothing beats the spas I went to in KL! Seriously, I was really disappointed with the treatment. I caught the flu because of untrained spa therapist. I told her I was cold so while she's massaging my legs, she should cover the upper body with towel... she just covered with half wet small towel, so can you imagine how cold I felt. Even worse the aircond was full blown, so I kindly asked her to switch it off but she said she cannot because everything was centralized. Then after about 2 hours, I was shivering... then only she switched it off with the explanation that she couldn't switch it off earlier because there was a function going on nearby... WTF??!!!

The view from our room

The spa that I went to, the interior was nice, sadly the service was not good

After my husband got back from the interview, we went bowling with his nephews and nieces. I was last, haha.. not surprising at all. Farhati, our niece was even better than me! How embarrassing... she's only 12.

I had to put on a cardigan, someone caught the flu remember???

With Farhati and Safiya.

I feel relieved that during the break, I got to read a few important topics in obstetrics, hence, making me look forward to applying what I learnt from those topics. I cannot wait to start working tomorrow although I am partially deaf from the high pressure during the flight back!
