On Saturday, I was in charge of the paeds ward, in 5A. The same cubicle, which is the acute cubicle. I quite like the acute cubicle except for the part that the patients are dynamic ie. the patients keep changing almost everyday, so it's a little bit challenging to understand the progress overnight, especially for the new patients who came at night. So it's important to summarize the case when I present to the specialist the next day.
Anyway, one of my old patient came back. He was diagnosed with ITP (Immune Thrombocytopneic Purpura) in April 2010. Currently, he is being admitted electively for IV Immunoglobulin transfusion because his platelet was as low as 17! I like this boy, he is really cute, and very mischievous. For patients like this, we'd advise them not to move about and play with something that doesn't involve running or anything that can cause them to fall for fear of bleeding, especially intra-cranial bleeding. But for this boy, his mum told me that the more she tells him to sit and play gently, the more he runs around and jumps off his bed! So I asked his mum whether he enjoys watching DVD or not... and his mum said, yes he does... then I asked again, what DVD does he watch... as you can guess, "ULTRAMAN." No wonder he keeps on jumping around and try to follow the stunts in the series! So I advised his mum to stop buying action-based DVDs, thank God he likes Barney... I guess he'll start watching a lot of Barneys! Kids will always follow whatever they see on TV.
I pray that Tung Li gets better really soon. He's the kind of kid who still smiles you even after you prick a needle in his hand!

exactly! he's really adorable. he doesn't speak much but his hands and feet move a lot. lari sana sini in the ward, that is why we had to tell his mum to stay on the bed.
